Major Grist has served in the British Army for many years including tours of duty in Bosnia and Afghanistan in her role as a nurse. Her tour of duty in Afghanistan was 15 months after her daughter was born therefore making her one of the very few women in the military to serve in a war zone leaving her small baby behind. She works tirlessly to improve the care given to Officer Cadets and cilvilians alike and undertakes a lot of charitable events; such as leading her team of both civilian and military personnel through a 100 km walk in 21 hours in recent weeks (in appalling conditions), in aid of Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust. Major Grist has great pride in her country and she would be honoured if she were selected to be part of 2012Olympic Torch Relay.
