He was a PTI in the RAF for ten years, became Head of PE at King Edward School from 1956 to 1976. In 1971 he started his own School of Swimming at The St Ives Hotel Lytham St Annes; Now at 78 years of age Mike still works as swimming teacher six days a week, with his staff is currently teaching around 400 children a week. During his 40 year career Mike estimates that he has taught around 42,000 children and countless adults to swim.
