Emma Whitham

Emma works with and supports the Scout movement in Todmorden. This involves running weekly Scout groups, in and out of school holidays, and also nightly training and taking part in the Gang Show which is an annual theatre show in Todmorden. Emma also is involved in taking the Scout group on trips abroad. Recently Emma was due to take part in a trip taking the Scouts to Switzerland. The Scout leader was taken ill and couldn't go and it was looking like the trip would need to be cancelled. Emma stood strong and agreed to take the trip abroad herself so as not to disappoint the Scouts. Emma has really gone the extra mile for these Scouts. Taking them to Switzerland to climb a mountain was not only a personal fitness challenge to Emma but also she had responsibility for them without her leader. She gives up lots of her personal time for them both on a weekly basis and at the time of the gang show also on a daily basis which coupled with her day job can be tiring. She wouldn't give it up because she knows how much it means to them.
