Emma became Team GB's first ever Olympic female biathlete at the OWG Turin 2006, having missed 2002 by a whisker. She was a member of the GBR team for a decade, but missed one season as she served in the Army in the Iraq War in 2003. Since retiring from international competition in 2009 she has been an active coach (again the first female to do this effectively in the UK) and is a real role model for young biathletes. She is still serving in the Army as a recruit instructor and, as a testimony to her "role model appeal" will shortly to be an instructor at Sandhurst.
