Emma joined Bannerman High School in August 2008 and is in S4. She is Dynamic and caring but most of all very determined. Emma was a competition swimmer and played football, but suffered a major health blow in 1st year of High School being diagnosed as having Upper Femoral Epiphysis. Meaning her hip had dislocated from the socket ball and the socket had slipped. Doctors said she would not play sport again. She returned to school in a wheelchair after surgery and through determination and hard work continued to swim using only her arms covering distances that most could not do with active limbs. Emma never let her high spirits slip and her strength to get out the wheelchair was nothing short of inspirational, she moved to crutches and eventually walking unaided. She now is part of the School Football Team which has been hugely successful. Emma has shown leadership skills by encouraging others to aim for their best academically and socially. Emma has been a mentor and motivator to other pupils one of whom had to go through the same operation.
