Our winner for Best Plan A champion expressed a keen interest and passion in Plan A, and took on the role of Plan A Champion when nobody else in his store was focussed on doing so. He understands the importance of M&S acting in line with its CSR commitments, as well as the business benefits which Plan A will bring with it. He has worked tremendously hard to engage the store on Plan A initiatives and more importantly how the store can play their part and get involved. He used the Plan A notice board to display photographs of volunteer days completed by staff in store, consequently recognising their hard work and encouraging other members of the store team to take their day too. He also arranged 2 events to further encourage volunteering in his store, in addition to the half marathon which he ran himself.

Our winner also initiated the set up of recycling in the staff catering unit through the segregation of waste into colour co-ordinated bins, which were the same colours that staff would use for their personal household waste, alongside communicating the benefits of recycling on posters next to the bins.

Our winner has continued to demonstrate the exceed mentality which we look for in our Plan A champions, and his innovation, passion and pride have all contributed to his fantastic successes. And the judges loved the modesty which our winner has demonstrated throughout his many achievements!
