Elsena Marsden

Elsena Marsden is a 70 year old retired midwife from Copthorne, who has recently completed a 100 mile walk across the South Downs to raise money for her local gynaecological cancer charity, GRACE. She undertook the grueling challenge after recovering from ovarian and peritoneal cancer at the end of 2010. Elsena battled her cancer with amazing spirit and dignity and completed the charity walk - raising almost £4,000 - with the same show of character that saw her through her diagnosis. She has recently been diagnosed with secondary cancer in her liver and is undergoing chemotherapy treatment. She`s yet again shown true courage and is determined to do the walk again next year. Elsena is a great role model and shining example to others, raising money to support other local women who have been diagnosed with cancer. She has a beautiful soul and is a worthy carrier of the Olympic torch.
