Beth was born in Stornoway in 1975 and brought up in Lochmaddy on North Uist by parents Dr John and Lorna Macleod. Always a very keen sports person, Beth was a founding member of the North Uist Athletics Club with Mairi Levack and Norman Macleod. In 1993 she left North Uist to study for a BA Sport in the Community at Jordanhill College, University of Strathclyde.She started playing rugby as a student in Glasgow and loved it so much she immediately joined a local club, West of Scotland and following a switch to Murrayfield Wanderers in Edinburgh she went on to play rugby union for 13 years, representing Scotland on 68 occasions and playing in 3 World Cups, several European Championships and nine Six Nations Tournaments. She retired from playing in 2006 following the World Cup in Canada. Beth currently works as a Lead Manager with sportscotland in Glasgow.
