Liz's nomination story

Sport has always been a major part of my life. At school I competed regionally at javelin and hockey and at one point I cycled across Ireland!

I spent 20 years playing competitive hockey and represented the county of Yorkshire and also the North of England mixed hockey squads as well as captaining Bowdon Hockey 2nd XI squad for 5 years. In addition, I supported the coaching and development of youth players plus the development of the hockey club as a whole. And at university I was Vice captain of Loughborough Uni Hockey 3rd XI.

This love of sport has spurred me on to run a half marathon for charity and complete the Lyke Wake Walk for charity (42 mile walk in one day) raising over £500 as well as completing a sprint triathlon.

Now as a new Mum, I am still active doing Yoga and Tai Chi. And am still an avid exerciser and lover of the outdoors - whether gym, running, cycling, walking and now pushing a pram! CR
