Libby's nomination story

Libby is an extremely inspirational big sister and has been so to me from the early days of my lacrosse and athletics at school. I believe her support has helped me achieve the levels I have in my sports. She was a fundamental character of our school`s CCF winning numerous prizes including 1st place in the County of Lancaster Rifle Association Shooting Competition as well as becoming our first ever woman Company Sergeant-Major commanding our cadet unit. She has played a major role helping in the Guides, being awarded the Baden-Powell Award, her Gold DoE and Director`s Prize in the Duke of Westminster Competition, one of the top five cadets in the whole Country! She represented school, club, county and Army in Lacrosse and excelled in the Inter-Services Championship - her teams emerged victorious of everyone- including the Royal Navy Men`s Lacrosse team despite questioning over her (a woman) even being allowed to play (v Men!) Her presence on the pitch was vital; as goalkeeper she stood firm and saved 90+mph shots from the RN men! Libby, a cellist, arranged a concert to support Regain, a disabled sportspersons` charity, and has assisted in the preservation of `The Matthew`, the replica 15th century ship, as part of her Bristol University OTC commitment, also the 2011 MS Challenge. My sister is a selfless and inspirational character. I hope that she has the opportunity to be recognised for her achievements by carrying the Olympic Flame in the Torch Relay 2012.
