I was an over-weight child and as such was not encouraged to participate in any sporting activities. However, I lived very close to a swimming pool and spent a lot of time there. So, when swimming lessons became part of my school curriculum, I was suddenly a champion. It was a wonderful feeling. I urge everyone to find an activity that they will enjoy. There is a wide range of sports and they suit different, diversities and capabilities. There is something for everyone and it is so much fun. I'm hoping the 2012 Olympics will encourage more people to find new opportunities and enjoy themselves. During the Games time I will be a Journey Leader for BAA and will be in the heart of the excitment of the Games leading a group of volunteers.
