Elaine lives in an area of Bolton known as Breightmet, which doesn't have the best of reputations. Elaine & her husband Ken decide to do something for the kids in the area and set up a football club in May 2009, called Breightmet Wanderers. She did a car boot and raised £30 and from there she has taken the club to new heights, the club now has 8 teams ranging from mens to tweenies (5). Last season the U10's won their league and the Wanderers have their first piece of Sliverware. Elaine has turned her spare room in her home into an office and is constantly finding sponsors, kits, equipment etc for the teams. The club even raised enough money for a mini bus so that the teams can travel to away matches. All the kids in the area love Elaine & Ken and when Ken suffered a heart attack earlier this year, everyone in the club made sure laine didn't have to worry about anything apart from getting Ken better. Thank fully Ken is fine and is at the side of the pitches every sat morning come rain or shine cheering all the players on. Elaine has won Bolton's women of the year award and also her & Ken were invited to Buckingham Palace recently afetr being nominated by the mayor of bolton, the club has recently been awarded FA Standard Chartered status. Elaine & Ken continue to give the kids of Breightmet something to do and keep them out of trouble. They are bringing grass root football back and maybe we could even have future little england star in our great club!!!
