Ted's nomination story

Ted has used his love and passion for sport to help others. He has raised money for CHUF the Childrens Heart Unit Fund at the Freeman hopital as well as raising money for De Paul UK and Ireland. In 2007 and 2009 our daughter had to have life saving heart surgery at the Freeman hopital. As a way of saying a huge thank you Ted has run the London marathon, the great north run and has cycled from London to Paris to raise money for CHUF. Ted is the manager of Simonside house, a young persons hostel in Newcastle run by the Charity De Paul UK who do invaluable work to help homeless and disadvantaged young people. This year Ted set himself the challenge of running 3 marathons and a 10 k run in 5 weeks to raise money and awareness for De Paul UK and Ireland. He successfully completed the Paris, London and Belfast marathons as well as running the Great Manchester run. He has also inspired our daughter, now 5 and son aged 3 to run. They both plan to take part in the Bupa Mini great north run this year. Ted has ran numerous marthons and half marathons as he loves to run but is inspirational as he has used this passion to set himself challenges to help others. I therefore beleive Ted deserves to carry the Olympic torch. He is a great Husband, Dad, Manager- he is a GREAT MAN!!
