Ed's nomination story

My father Ed has worked at Kings College Hospital (Camberwell, SE London) - in one of Britain's busiest Accident & Emergency departments - for over 30 years. As the Director of Trauma, Emergency & Acute Medicine he helps to save lives and improve medical services and patient care on a daily basis. Such is his passion for his job, he also teaches frequently in the UK and abroad and has volunteered for St John's Ambulance for 15 years as well as The Jubilee Sailing Trust which designs ships that can be sailed by disabled and able-bodied individuals. Ed has a Platinum Clinical Excellence Award for Emergency Medicine, as recognition of his contribution, beyond that normally expected in a job, to the values and goals of the NHS. He is one of the few people to receive this award, at this level, in the UK. His family, colleagues and friends have great admiration for him and feel it would be an honour to be part of London 2012 in this way.Para 2 St John Ambulance for 20 years, not St John's Ambulance for 15 years Para 4 beyond that normally expected, to the NHS and to the development of Emergency Medicine. He is one of the few people in the specialty to receive this award in the UK
