Dylan, who is my grandson, is 14 years old and has been battling against Leukaemia for the last three years. He is almost at the end of his treatment and everything points to a successful outcome. During this time he has remained very cheerful, has continued to attend school whenever possible and has been very positive most of the time. The only sport he has been able to undertake during this time has been swimming, and he is looking forward to being able to live a long and full life when he gets the all clear . Like many boys of his age who have had life threatening illnesses, Dylan has lost a lot of his confidence, and I know that the experience of taking part in the Torch Relay would be a huge boost to him and his family. Dylan has inspired so many boys of his age at school, who have seen him during the worst times of his treatment, during the time of hair loss (twice) and whilst in the Cancer Care Unit at Southampton Hospital where he helped younger boys in the same situation.
