Don's nomination story

He joined the army to serve his Queen and Country and joined the Royal Welch Fusiliers. He served in the Falklands war and had 3 tours of Northern Ireland. Whilst in Northern Ireland he was severely injured in a bomb blast and spent 4 years in hospital. He developed renal failure in 2000 and had a kidney transplant in 2005.In an effort to repay society for getting his life back he has taken part in numerous fund raising activities for Kidney Research.These include the great North run twice, climbing Ben Nevis twice, climbing Mount Snowdon 41 times and climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with ex captains of the Welsh Rugby Team. He is active in the local community and assists with the local youth club in addition to participating in nationwide renal transplant games.
