Dyfrig dedicates countless hours to the Swansea University Sailing Club and has taken it from a group of sailors who go out for fun to a nationally ranked uni team in just one year. He is an ex-national squad sailor with a passion for the sport who is willing to share it with anyone. He will spend hours explaining how something works or taking someone out for free to teach them about the joys of being on the water.
While sailing is his passion, Dyfrig spends hours each day in a polymer physics lab working on his PHD in nanotechnology. The teamwork and dedication that his sport has taught him help him excel in academia and he will one day be very successful in his career thanks to the discipline a life of sport has given him. Although he will never be able to sail in the Olympics because he decided to dedicate himself to his studies instead, he deserves to be a part of the games as he has devoted many years to representing his country at an international level already.
He is one of the best people I know and gives off that impression to everyone he meets. He has inspired countless sailors, from children to adults and everyone in between, to learn the ins and outs of the sport. He would be an excellent torchbearer and truly deserves the honor.
