Dougie's nomination story

An inspiring individual who, over the years, has provided guidance to kids who could have taken the wrong routes in life.

Over 25 years he has coached various groups of people, including the successful Grangemouth Ladies, and, most notably, teenagers, to get them off the streets of Dumbarton, and, at one point, was supporting sixty teenagers five nights a week.

Dougie supports the TC Children's Charity working with TC employees to raise awareness and donations and, on the 4th of September, he ran in the Great Scottish Run.

Dougie's regret is that he missed out on an international place in sport. Although a referee for a few years, he was close to becoming the assistant coach to the Woman's Scottish National squad but work commitments meant this wasn't possible.

For his dedication to sport and charity, Dougie would be a fantastic advocate for Thomas Cook in being a torchbearer for London 2012.
