Diane has worked tirelessly for years in a variety of charity guises. She was a local councillor for the Ward of Elland for 4 years; a member of Rotary Club, past president and chairman of Youth Activities; a Deacon at Blackley Church for 4 years and was the Chairman for 3 years (and now the Secretary) of the Elland Charity Carnival, raising essential funds for a variety of local causes and harnessing a positive and proactive community spirit. As a member of the Elland District Partnership, she helps the community by raising funds for flower boxes; playgrounds; multi surface areas for football, basketball, cricket and also helped clear a park into a safe and pleasant place to take families.
Diane also stood as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate for Halifax in the General Election last year, believing that this position offered her greater leverage in championing the services and support the local community needed. Although unsuccessful, her profile is still incredibly strong within her local area, as is the respect for her determined and diligent approach to helping others.
It is Diane's inbuilt and altruistic belief portrayed in a humbled way that makes her stand out. To say you have to 'dig deep' to know everything she does is understated and it is this self effacing attitude that makes her exceptional. She will, wherever possible, help others without the need for recognition or acknowledgement and the drive and spirit she has to support so many is truly worthy.
