Diana's nomination story

Diana is an inspiration to all carers for Rotherham and her tireless voluntary work with a local group Carers4Carers, which is a support group for those caring for loved ones with serious mental health problems. Diana won the Rotherham Community Achievement Award for Volunteer of the Year 2010 for her voluntary work in supporting this community. Diana is an inspiration to Carers who are supporting loved ones with serious mental health problems, this maybe the offer of peer support or the organisation of activities which gives the carer a short break which brings a bit of normality back to their lives. Carers4Carers is a group of volunteer carers who help and support other carers. Diana tirelessly campaigns for carers in Rotherham and is an expert by experience because she is a devoted carer of a loved one herself, and continued whilst going through the sudden bereavement of her beloved husband. This is a worthy nomination because in Rotherham alone there are 30,000 unpaid carers and Diana is an inspiration to these carers, fully understanding their needs and will always try to make sure they receive the best care and support possible. As a result of Diana's and her groups tireless campaigning, carers in Rotherham now have their own Carers Centre. Diana has made a total difference to lives of carers. Please show you also care for carers and choose this remarkable lady as one of your torch bearers.
