Di's nomination story

Di is involved in a very practical way in many charities, she works tirelessly for the RNLI raising thousands with her plant sale every year as well as organising and working at many other Lifeboat functions. She is a very 'hands on' supporter of the Riding for the Disabled Association, 36 years so far. She never talks about the other charitable works she does but I know there are many. She is also Church Warden of St Peter's Church in Portesham, secretary to the PC, leader of the team who have just won the 'Best New Entry' in the DWT's Living Churchyard competition. Also a Trustee of the Chesil Trust which provides Sail for a Fiver for youth. Her late husband, Bill, was responsible for the creation of the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy - the reason for the Olympics being in our area. Without Bill there would be no Academy, this nomination is for him as well as Di.
