Diana's nomination story

Diana Gould is my grandmother. She will turn 100 shortly before the London Olympics. She's been an active person all her life and doesn't let her age stop her now. She runs exercise classes in the retirement flats where she lives which are a great favourite with her neighbours. Three times a week, Grandma and her group sit in a circle of armchairs, stretching, reaching and bending, using foam balls and backscrubbers! It helps keep them flexible and healthy, which helps them maintain their independence - and it's a sociable way for the neighbours to get to know each other. Some new neighbours in the retirement flats have joined too - and added yoga moves to the ladies' morning work-outs, proving you're never too old to learn a new sport.
