As Devon's teacher I have been teaching for a number of years and I can honestly say I could not possible think of a better candidate than this young lady. She is a fantastic athlete and has represented England both in gymnastics and dance. However, it is not this reason alone as to why I am nominating her. Her attitude towards a variety of sports and her ability to enthuse others into trying their best are her key aspects. She has recently been made Sports Captain of one of the Houses at her school. This House usually comes last on Sports Day, yet with Devon in charge she worked so hard to galvanise her house and motivate them all to achieve their first ever win at Sports Day. What further reflects the character of this young lady was that when the results were announced some members of her House where booing other Houses and she did not accept this and had a quite word with them about how other athletes should be treated. Her attitude towards competition has allowed her to excel in everything she sets her mind to. Yet it is her ability to encourage and motivate others that sets her apart for others at this large secondary school (2500 students). Throughout next year she will maintain her Sports Captain role and I look forward to seeing her enthuse the rest of her House into participating and taking pride in their House through her inspiration. She is a key member of all the Sports teams and would be an ideal choice as a Torch bearer..... she has represented England in dance and has been a regional finalist in gymnastics.
