When Derek was born he was a normal little boy up until the age of 1 and a1/2 when he contracted meningitis, he was very very sick and it left him with epilepsy. He was in and out of hospital until the age of Three when he had prolonged seizures which left him severley brain damaged, all his organs were failing and I was told that Derek would never be able to do anything again. The Diagnosis was Guadriplejia Global developmental delay, he stayed in hospital for nine months, when i got him home I was told I had to take him to the Hyter baric chamber so he went their every week for oxygen and now Derek has started to walk again to everyones amazement. He has went from strength to strength, this year in January he had to have his feet repositioned something that has not been done on a child with his problems so there were concerns that he would not walk again. Now 6 months later Derek is walking is better than ever, he is an inspiration to everybody and just keeps on smiling.
