Dennis has worked tirelessly in disability sport and sport over the last 20 years helping to inspire young and old to do their best whether they be competitors, coaches or volunteers. He has organised competitions, coaching sessions, award evenings, conferences and school resource packs all in support of those involved in sport and PE as well as with the aim of attracting more people into sport. He has helped educate people and change negative attitudes towards disabled people and sport. For 14 years he ran a sports club for disabled people to enjoy social activities and sport, including organising residential trips to outdoor activity centres. Recently he initiated and organised a local Community Games which attracted over a thousand local residents to get together and be inspired by the 2012 Olympics. This games brought a local community together as volunteers, organisers, and participants and truly engaged all, young, old, teenagers and toddlers - there was something there for everyone. Dennis gave up his time freely and galvanised local residents, businesses and community groups to get involved. All, and more, have pledged their support for next year. Dennis is a champion for the Olympics and Paralympics in 2012, truly believing in their goals and continues to inspire all around him. He deserves the honour to be a torch bearer for this once in a lifetime opportunity and get a little recognition for all his hard work and dedication (one of the olympic values!)
