Debbie's nomination story

In 2008, Debbie was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma and spent a year undergoing treatment before receiving the all clear.

Debs is hugely talented in sport and like all good sportswomen, not once was she seen to be fazed; instead she saw her illness as a challenge.

A challenge to get fit, get healthy and get back in action. Debbie continued to participate in sport throughout her illness and showed that sport can be a truly powerful anitdote both in treatment and recovery and also as part of team, providing a valuable support network and lifelong friends. Since then, Debbie has raised over £61,000 for The Royal Marsden Cancer Campaign.

She is and always will be an inspiration and it would be wonderful for her to have the opportunity to shine brightly during London 2012.
