Dawn Oliver

When Dawn discovered her friend Kate had breast cancer and was undergoing chemo and radio therapy Dawn promised if Kate lost her hair she would shave all her own hair off in support and to raise funds for Cancer Care Unit at Stoke Mandeville hospital, where Kate was being looked after and also for the charity Against Breast Cancer (ABC), based in Abingdon. Kate lost her hair, Dawn shaved hers off on March 26th 2011. Dawn raised over £4500 which has been split 50/50. Dawn has also collected 31kg of bra's in a number of bra banks for ABC. Dawn pulled the local community together for a wonderful night fund raising including getting raffle prizes from local businesses. Each person had their own story for why they were helping support - this made Dawn feel very humble as so many people or their families had suffered cancer themselves yet were willing to help.
