My Dad is truly an inspiration to everyone around him. 20 years ago my Mum was diagnosed with MS and my Dad has dedicated himself to looking after her. He has sacrificed his independence, career ambitions and social life to meet the demands of being a husband, carer and father. His one outlet and opportunity for respite is running, where he maintains a position as one of the best Veteran athletes in the UK. In 2010 his passion and commitment inspired me to run the London Marathon and by doing so I was able to raise £2500 for sufferers of MS. Giving my dad the opportunity to bear the Olympic flame would enable my family to say thank you for everything he has done. He is truly a hero in my eyes and his patience and selfless attitude should be rewarded.I 'm still active founder member of Great Western Runners, thriving club with 276 members 28 yrs later. More important, my daughter Sophie died suddenly on 3rd July shortly after nominating me. It'd mean everything to me to carry torch for her now.
