Carrying the Flame through
Carrying the Flame on
Dave's nomination story

I am nominating my brother David to carry the Olympic torch. On the 27th may 2010 David was on a routine patrol in Nadi Ali, Afghanistan. They where patrolling in a river close to their base when David stood on an IED bomb - that second of disaster has left my brother with no legs and missing his right arm. The day my brother woke up in Selly Oak hospital in Birmingham his outrageous courage and determination has been second to none. David was left with outstanding injuries but still that didn`t stop him, he was only in bed for a week before he was up and moving around the hospital and was only in hospital for 3 weeks. He is the fastest triple amputee to recover from the injuries. Since he left hospital david has achieved so much in such a little time, he took part in the Paralympic Games in Stoke and has also been over to America recently to do a similar games where he won 2 gold medals and a bronze and also broke the record for the discus event. If david should be nominated to to carry the flame he would be so honoured and proud to once again represent his country just like he did in Afghanistan. I have been so inspired by my brother`s recovery and hard work and he has also had that effect on thousands of people. If david was nominated it would be a massive consolation because he was meant to be taking part in the 2012 Paralympics but due to an outstanding shoulder injury he was forced to stop training, so to actually take part would be such an achievement.
