Dave Stokes

Everyone knows Dave as an inspiration with his positive 'can do' attitude and big smile. He is publicity officer for Bridgwater Carnival. This community event is the largest illuminated procession in the world and a national charity. The role involves promoting the event, liaising with the media and building relationships with local businesses for funding. Bridgewater Carnival raises the profile of the town and over the last 20 years has raised over £495,158 for local charities. Through his employment he is part of a power station charity team. In 2011 the team raised £2,000 for Help for Heroes and over £8,000 for Motor Neurone Disease Association. With two friends, who have also lost parents to cancer, Dave has organised annual pig roasts raising over £15,000 for Cancer Research UK. He is a real shining light who deserves this opportunity.
