David's nomination story

David is the Chairperson for Dalgety Bay Relay for Life on behalf of Cancer Research. As chairperson David has attracted over 23 teams to participate and 60 cancer survivors from the community to participate in the 24 hour relay. David worked tirelessly with team captains, survivors and local businesses to create a Carnival themed Relay. The event brought together local schools/youth groups and the community as one team to raise over £65k this year for Cancer Research.

As chairperson, David chairs monthly meetings with committee/team captains and survivors to ensure that individuals, community groups and business are engaged and involved in the Relay. David also engaged with local businesses generating revenue through advertising and sponsorship to maximise the funds raised for Cancer Research UK. This year David engaged two schools to design a Christmas card for 2011 to generate income for next year and to create a 2012 Poster to be used in promotion of next years event. David also worked with Police / St Andrews First Aid / Scouts and Inverkeithing Rotary Club to deliver logistics creating a mini village to accommodate over 260 participants for 24 hours and over 250 friends and family during the Saturday Carnival.
