David in my mind has shown himself to be not only selfless when it comes to his charity work but also incredibly modest about it. When discussing this nomination while flattered he also felt he in no way compared to others nominated. But I feel he is selling himself short. just speaking to the team and everyone agrees that David does more work for charity and community than anyone they know. There's not a month goes by where he's not involved in something somewhere from raising funds or running a half marathon to supporting his brother in law. And all the time it is done with such enthusiasm. he also does these things in such a way as to be as efficient as possible, raising as much money as possible without costing the company or others. Often putting in much of the initial outlay for supplies himself.
He is also aware of how people can suffer from charity fatigue if things are done too often and finds ways to do things differently all the time so people feel that it's always something new and helps to encourage people to donate and take part time and time again.
Sponsored activities; including climbing Ben Nevis, several half marathons and currently involved in organising a long distance bike ride.
Fund raising events, organising bake sales, quiz nights and other fun charity based activities to raise money including Charity of the Year and things like Comic Relief.
I know of no one else who would be so proud and appreciative and yet so humble to win this prize.
