David's nomination story

I am a local authority foster carer who, with my wife, looks after babies and very young children in foster care. Since 2008 I have raised nearly £15,000 for The Fostering Network, the leading charity for children in foster care. In 2008 I walked the Inca Trail in Peru, in 2010 I walked part of The Great Wall of China, and in 2012 I will walk in Nepal, all to raise funds and heighten awareness of The Fostering Network and foster care. My nickname at the Charity is 10K Dave, as this is the way I train for these events: run a 10k every second day for 3 months to get, and maintain fitness. I'd have no problem running with the 2012 Olympic Flame, supporting the country, the county of North Yorkshire and foster-carers up and down Great Britain.
