Chris Jones

Chris is an INSPIRATION in GOING THE EXTRA MILE to help MEMBERS OF HIS COMMUNITY. He is a key member of the Lions Club and a PROLIFIC FUNDRAISER, organising events such as a sponsored Chariot race for craft that travel on land and water, dinner dances for CHILDREN IN NEED and he organised 1 of only 2 events in Cornwall for the original SPORT RELIEF when everyone was urged to RUN THE WORLD. Every December he builds a MUSICAL FLOAT FOR SANTA so that Santa can visit local children while his elves collect donations for LOCAL CHARITIES. He has DEVOTED TIME AT WEEKENDS to drive a minibus for a local centre who look after handicapped children so they can enjoy days out and with the Lions he helps organise a Christmas party for ELDERLY MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY where they get a hearty meal and seasonal entertainment. He also spends time MAKING THE TOWN READY FOR CHRISTMAS by collecting, putting up and decorating the town centre's large Christmas tree and putting up decorative street lights. He looks after the YOUNG PEOPLE too by having previously organised an end of year party for 100's of local schoolchildren and the world's LONGEST PARTY POPPER PULL by over 750 pupils! He has achieved all of this while running his own business and bringing up a young family, yet he still finds time to MOW THE VERGES along local roads and RID THE HEDGES of LITTER! He really SHINES as someone who has worked tirelessly to BETTER HIS COMMUNITY and it would be wonderful to recognise his effort.
