Dave Humphries...
Nearly 30 years ago, Dave founded Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Youth Section (WODYS). WODYS have arguably become one of the leading amateur youth groups in the country. Every year they perform a musical show for a full week, to full houses at the Swan Theatre, Worcester.
Every Saturday and Sunday morning, since 1982 (for 9 months of the year), Dave has given up his time, freely, to direct, produce and inspire youngsters between age 8 and 18. He has trained them all in aspects of theatre work, including singing, dancing, acting and general stagecraft. Dave is completely dedicated to voluntarily delivering professional and successful productions.
Dave is a complete inspiration to WODYS and selflessly gives up his time and gives us the belief we need to perform every year. He is a loving, caring and friendly man who deserves to be a torchbearer. Dave has really gone the extra mile over the duration of his involvement and is such an inspiration to everybody. Many people involved in WODYS have gone on to work professionally because of the enthusiasm and support he has given them over the years. In the Worcester Amateur Dramatic community, he is a local hero and this is why the young people at WODYS have nominated him to be a local torchbearer at the London Olympics 2012.
