David Humphreys

David Humphreys is 63 years old, born one of five children at a time of great hardship. Haringey Boys Club became his second home and saviour; encouraging him to become a qualified PE Instructor. He excelled at football and cricket, becoming Vice President of Broxbourne CC.. Throughout his life he has gone out of his way to help others, always conscious of his own disadvantaged start. Physical ill health has dogged him, from replacement hips to Parkinson's Disease. His determination to lead a full life, without complaint, is an example to all. During these times he has "marched" many half-marathons and completed the London Marathon in 2010, raising over £4,000 for the Parkinson's Society. Never a day goes by without his involvement in charitable work through his church and local Rotary Club in Somerset. Selection would give a little back to a man who has given so much to others.
