David's nomination story

I would like to nominate David for his work with the First Tarporley Cub Pack which provide the boys with an opportunity to belong to a group and develop a respect for leadership and an enthusiasm for life. David is the Arkala and devotes a great deal of his personal time to planning and providing the boys in his community, between the ages of 8 - 11, with an environment to develop life skills and to be good citizens .

He has recently volunteered his weekend and time to organise and lead a camping weekend away for 27 young boys, hiking and canoeing. Many of these boys would not have the opportunity to be involved in these kinds of activities outside of the Cubs and David devotes a huge amount of his time ensuring that these are not just fun weekends but also that they are learning and the experience is stimulating.

The event takes a massive amount of planning before and after and gives the boys the opportunity to put into practice their skills for many of the bronze, silver and gold award badges building their enthusiasm and life skills. Although this event was not a specific charity event, David's devoted contribution to the Cubs is year on year and he is an inspiring individual devoting much of his precious personal time to the groups of young boys, contributing to the shaping of their characters. A huge responsibility which David takes most seriously. A well deserved winner!
