Eight years ago I told my story about being an orphan in public for the first time. My brotherinlaw David (the nominee) was in the audience. At the end, he whispered quietly in my ear Shelley, I have known you most of my life. I had no idea about the pain nor the loneliness. I dont know what yet, but I give you my word and a promise that I am going to do something to help.. That week he started running training.Later that year he ran the London Marathon, raising an astounding £25,000 which helped us launch a charity for bereaved children www.griefencounter.org.uk He didnt stop there...running,fundraising, supporting,caring...with not a second of looking for any personal payback. How much more inspiring can someone be? Personally, I owe him a huge debt..as do the now 1000s of bereaved children that have benefited.
