David Denton

David is truly inspirational and should be a torch bearer. I have known him for 15 years, having met through fell races and other events he organised. His drive to put on these races, and his general enthusiasm about them, encouraged me to do the same- I started to organise my own events having been given a role model to emulate. In addition to these sports events, David also does fantastic charity work abroad. He has close ties with poor communities in the coastal state of Kerala in India, collecting UK donations and channelling them into focused education and health projects (plus the odd road race for the locals!) He continues to do all these projects despite developing several major health issues himself- Chronic leukaemia, the start of heart failure and more recently, early diabetes. David has inspired me and countless others who have met him. He should be allowed to carry the torch.
