The work to find a cure and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's would not be possible without Volunteer Educators like David.
When told he had Parkinson's, a progressive incurable condition, the diagnosis seemed devastating. He turned for help to his local Parkinson's branch and found friendship and a perfect use for his skill of communicating.
For the last 2 years, David has dedicated himself to a personal mission of raising awareness of Parkinson's in nursing homes across Cornwall.
Through his talks, he shares his knowledge and very personal insights of Parkinson's. Hearing directly from someone living with the condition resonates strongly with staff and leaves a powerful and lasting message.
As David says, educating others gives me the opportunity to give back and make a real difference for others with Parkinson's.
I have come to realise that life goes on, albeit a slightly slower pace.
