David Darby

We the members of Portland Vic Bowls Club, Royal Manor of Portland Athletics Club, and Friends of Victoria Gardens wish to nominate Dave Darby to be an Olympic Torch Bearer. A former footballer for Bridport F C and a very active member of the nominating organisations he organises numerous Charity social and church events. He's an allotment holder, with an aviary that houses injured birds, he litter picks weekly on the island. Although a non-driver he visits the sick and elderly getting their shopping. Known universally to the youth of the Island of Portland as Darbs he is a friend mentor and inspiration to all. He gives of his time unstintingly. He's the ideal man to represent the Island of Portland where the sailing events are taking place. Had this been a petition instead of a nomination the signatures would be countless.
