David's nomination story

David Coulter of Kilmarnock is a 7th Dan in karate who has dedicated his life to the sport. He took up the sport in 1969 and became a member of the Great Britain team travelling all over the world competing in national, european and world championships, winning medals at all levels. He then started his own club in 1979, naming it Sakai Karate Club, which over the years has produced world class athletes. He spends his days teaching children as young as 4, focusing on the importance of respect and discipline, and stressing the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. David is also one of the Scottish Karate Team coaches and has been involved in this role for many years. To recognise his dedication to the sport, the Scottish Karate board recently awarded him his 7th Dan. He is a pillar of the community in ayrshire and a well respected family man, and a perfect candidate for this honour.
