David Boyle works tirelessly as a Community Development Officer in Randalstown, including organising Festival & Christmas celebrations and running training courses (500+ students in 2010) for the local community. He has also headed up two Community Property Development projects, providing affordable housing, tourist accommodation and commercial property for new business starts. Through organised art projects, he has also reinforced links with local schools. Other projects he has successfully delivered include the "Building the Community-Pharmacy Partnership" which aims to address local health and social wellbeing needs. As former director of "South Antrim Rural Network", David has also initiated programmes to support individuals with mental health problems - e.g. free Mental Health First Aid training courses. David is a water-sports enthusiast and a qualified kayak coach and water ski coach, and through his passion in these sports, has successfully encouraged many new people to also take part. It is uncommon for him to offer out free taster sessions in his own time, as well as providing advice and support so that others can also become involved in the sport. Finally, as an active member of the Newferry Water Ski Club, David has made efforts to ensure that these sports are all fully inclusive - e.g. he recently secured funding for the Club to acquire 'sit on top' canoes for use with local disabled groups. Many of these groups are now hiring out these canoes on a regular basis.
