Darren's nomination story

It's hard to know which aspects of Darren's community work to highlight as he does so much, but I think the real strength that he has is the ability to enthuse the young people in Sherborne to participate in their community; in their words "He is a person you can trust and look up to; just what we need. He should carry the torch". Although many of Darren's roles are school based, their success is due to his involvement with Sherborne Youth Club and various local sport Clubs. The young people Darren spends time with see how becoming involved in local community activities is good to do as well as enjoyable. Some of his roles are paid, however the majority of the hours he commits are not. Darren will give 100% to every project he is involved in and works tirelessly to improve what they offer to young people. His efforts have transformed the lives of many young people, raising their aspirations and building their self esteem. As an ex-pupil his selfless dedication to improve the life chances of local young people is truly inspirational for our current pupils; they see that if Darren can do a thing then so may they.
