Darren gives up almost all his time to volunteer and his dedication has been awarded with the title Gold Ambassador of Camden. He volunteers to help young children in sports and in other activities. He also takes part in helping children in Paralympics Sport. He volunteers with Quad Kids Athletics and is part of the three acres community play project. To better facilitate himself to help the children, he has taken up Sign Language and is finishing up his assessment to work with disabled persons. In my opinion Darren prioritises his volunteering over everything and partakes in anything available such as officiating courses in athletics, even during his GCSEs studies he still found time to fulfil his passion to help. On average Darren does about 15 hours a week of volunteering and 10 hours a week of sports. Alongside his charitable achievements his academic achievements are admirable he has learnt 4 different languages in the last 2 years and has attained so far 5 A-C GCSEs and a BTEC in public services at merit level. I think Darren fits the criteria perfectly as he is a helpful, cheerful and playful athlete who would love to represent London as a torch bearer in the London 2012 Olympics. As a friend he has inspired me to put more effort in my own input to help and has also taken me along to some of his volunteering events. He believes the there is great reward in helping and you receive an immense intrinsic motivation to do it all over again.
