Dan's nomination story

Dan has always considered his Grandad to be his hero: looking up to him, trying to emulate his every way. His Grandad passed away shortly after his 11th birthday he's fully put into practice those lessons learnt. I have ME and Fibromyalgia Dan's part of my daily support. A mentor in his secondary school becoming Head Boy in Year11, like his Grandad had been at his. Training and volunteering at a local judo club raising over GBP7000 singlehandedly. Hastings Youth Council for 3years Treasurer's for 1year, RightWingBack for his football team, DofE participant: going Gold this summer, college full time with 4ALevels, working part-time, Dan is an inspiration and known to many children, peers and adults alike as a person to turn to who will help, listen and support, someone who is steadfast and loyal, true to 'doing the right thing'. Managing to overcome his own problems, emotionally (during depression when his Grandad died and again now with the pressures of college) and physically (Dan suffers from SHOX deficiency: causing him pain every day all day in his ankles, knees and wrists) already having had an operation on one ankle but, Dan will need further operations if the treatment from Guys&StThomas London doesn't work. His Grandad attended 2weeks of the 1948 London Olympics: at 18years of age, Dan has the pin badge. Dan is 18years & the Olympics are again here in London, he is an amazing person and Son with so much to offer and I know he would truly appreciate this opportunity.
