Daniel lennon is my 87 year old father. This is likely to be his last chance to carry the olympic torch. My father is a former Irish Marathon Champion having won the race on two occasions in the late 1950's and finishing third on another occasion. In one of the races his younger brother, now deceased, finished second. Had it not been for the fact that my father was running for the wrong athletic association he may well have himself represented Ireland in the Olympic games. At the time it was political but he never held any grudge. I am led to believe that his time for the marathon would have been good enough for him to have finished in the top 20 . He has many stories about riding his bicycle 20 miles to run in a Marathon race and then cycling home again. I would love for my father to have his day 'in the sun' and to recieve some acknowledgement for his accomplishments. Due to his age and general health I feel that this may well be his last opportunity to carry the olympic torch. I know this would make an old man very happy and would be a dream fulfilled
