Dan Ibbetson

Olympic competitors fill me with admiration and hope. They are an incredible source of inspiration and serve as a reminder that we all have an obligation to be the best that we can be; to strive for excellence and deal with obstacles and challenges without losing hope or purpose. As a young boy my dreams were not of gold medals but sports cars. That dream remained unfilled for many years but provided motivation for me to continually push the boundaries of my capabilities and to strive to do my best in everything I did. Now, many of those dreams have been fulfilled but my passion to excel remains. During this journey I have taken the opportunity to use that energy and passion to help others, through fund raising sporting challenges or pushing people to achieve their best. This torch, for me, represents hope of what we can all achieve by following the example set by Olympians.
