Danea Herron

I nominate Danea, for her dedication to the City of Derry Athletics Club. She is an inspiration to all the young athletes in the club. She gives endlessly of her time, to do all the things necessary to run a successful club; from developing the athletes, running training sessions, entering individual athletes and teams for competitions and organising travel arrangements. She does all of this voluntarily and with boundless energy and enthusiasm. Her reward is to see the many young athletes she has nurtured, achieve success at local, national and international level. She travels all over Ireland and the UK with athletes, sometimes with teams of up to 80 children, to enable them to take part in competitions. She always puts the athletes first and will do all she can without a second thought for herself to facilitate the athletes. She is dedicated to the success of the club and all the athletes, young and old, and as such is invaluable to the club, to athletics and the local community. In addition she still trains and competes as an athlete, and as such she is an inspiration to all. Danea never seeks praise or thanks so this would be a great way to show my appreciation.
