Dalaney's nomination story

Dalaney is a fine 13 year old young man who has a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). People with this disorder traditionally struggle to make friends and interact socially. However, Dalaney is an exception. Although I teach him in a small unit, he is amazingly accomplished within the area of P.E. and sport, where he goes to the large Brislington Enterprise College of 1300 students. He is not phased and everyone who meets him becomes a friend. He is an inspiration to all the Bristol Autistic community, where he has twice performed in the playground to Podium talent identification days and he even represents the main College at athletics. He is confident and would project the ASD cause and show everyone just what they can achieve. It would be a personal landmark, but he also has the maturity and character to represent the ASD community and be a future role model for many others. He is a main College Sports Captain and if chosen would be aaccepted by the youth of south Bristol as a true torch bearer for them. I can visualise him talking to groups and motivating them to achieve their full potential for many years to come. He always stives to overcome his disability with humour and extra ordinary effort. He is always positive, energetic and determined to be as independant as he can. If chosen he will really be inspired to lead a full and active life and he will ensure that everyone else believes in themselves to achieve and succeeed- as he tells us every day!
